Gendang Beleq comes from Sasak tribes, Lombok.
Formerly in Lombok,
Gendang Beleq was used to encourage the warriors who would go to war and those who had returned home from the war. Thus, at that time, Gendang Beleq
was used as music in the war with the reason to beat the spirit of the warriors.
Now, Gendang Beleq
is used as musical support in a certain welcoming ceremony
